Void 2019
For the first part, of the two week artistic break from school, I decided to follow a ‘color and painting’ course. During this week we learned how to make our own pigments and turn that into paint. The result is seen in the first five pictures. On the last one of those you see the end result of these tests. My goal was to create a chalk base paint but and texture and more vibrant colors. To add the texture I didn’t refine the pigment as much and mixed the solution prematurely.
The last three pictures on that row where in the latter half of the week where we started painting with egg tempura. Here I created two paintings with two different concepts. The leaf painting was a reference to the first part of the week where we all natural and focused on the current environmental situation. And for the other painting the eggs that we were painting with inspired me to do this painting. It resembles me in color but it takes the shape of the egg yolk when it is on a slippery surface. Flowing and going where it wants. Breaking apart and shattering.
The last row contains three pictures taken during the last week of the Void. I got teamed up with other students from different classes and we got two buildings assigned. The goal was to capture the buildings in functional form but also in art form. The blue picture is from a gymnastics hall and the other two from a college.
